The United Arab Emirates has recently updated its visa-free entry policy for Chinese nationals, introducing new rules that both extend and restrict certain aspects of stay duration.

Under the revised policy, holders of ordinary Chinese passports valid for more than six months are allowed visa-free entry into the UAE. They may stay for up to 90 days within any 180-day period, whether consecutively or intermittently. The 180-day period begins on the date of the traveler's first entry.

Once a total of 90 days has been reached within the 180-day window, travelers are required to leave the UAE and can only return after the 180-day period from their initial entry has passed. Those who exceed the 90-day limit will be fined 50 dirhams per day of overstay.

Two Key Changes

1.Longer Single Stay Allowed
Previously, Chinese citizens could remain in the UAE for only 30 days per entry, with a possible extension up to 60 days through an application. The new policy permits a total stay of up to 90 days within 180 days, offering more flexibility for longer visits.

2.Strict Stay Period Limit and Penalties Introduced
Under the old rules, travelers could reset their stay period by exiting and re-entering the country, effectively allowing them to stay close to a full 180 days within six months. The updated policy now strictly caps the total stay at 90 days within 180 days, regardless of the number of entries, with penalties imposed for overstays.
