On March 12, the official WeChat account of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the Agreement on Mutual Visa Exemption between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Independent State of Samoa will come into effect on April 2, 2025.

According to the agreement, citizens holding valid passports from either country can enjoy visa-free entry under the following conditions:

  • Chinese citizens with diplomatic, service, service-ordinary, or ordinary passports and Samoan citizens with diplomatic, official, or ordinary passports are eligible.

  • Travelers may enter, exit, or transit through the other country without a visa for a single stay of up to 30 days.

  • The total duration of stay must not exceed 90 days within a 180-day period.

If a citizen of either country wishes to:

  • Stay beyond the permitted period,

  • Engage in employment, studies, permanent residence, or journalistic activities,

They must apply for an appropriate visa before entering the host country and obtain approval from the relevant authorities.
