On March 29, Qingyuan City in Guangdong Province released a guideline on renewing Chinese driver's licenses for foreign nationals.
According to the Qingyuan Public Security Bureau, foreign drivers must apply for renewal within 90 days before their license expires, as stipulated in Article 63 of the Regulations on the Application and Use of Motor Vehicle Driver's Licenses. Applications can be submitted to the issuing vehicle administration office or other designated offices.
To renew a license, foreign applicants must verify their information and provide the following documents:
1. Identification documents:
(1)A valid passport or other international travel documents
(2)A visa or residence permit valid for at least three months
(3)A temporary residence registration issued by the local public security bureau, or a Permanent Resident ID for foreigners in China
2. Medical certificate: A health examination report issued by a medical institution
3. Recent photo: A passport-sized photo taken within the last six months
Applications should be submitted at the Comprehensive Service Hall of the Qingyuan Traffic Police Detachment's Vehicle Administration Office.
