Foreign Tourists Detained & Deported for Buttocks Photos at the Great Wall
According to reports from Japanese television networks on March 13, a Japanese man and woman visited the Great Wall of China in early January. During their visit, the man pulled down his pants and exposed his buttocks while the woman took a photo of him. This act of indecent exposure quickly led to their detention by security personnel.
The two individuals were swiftly apprehended and faced legal consequences for their actions. They were sentenced to two weeks of administrative detention under China's Public Security Administration Punishment Law for violating public order. Following the completion of their detention period, they were deported from China.
The Japanese embassy in China intervened by visiting the detention center and speaking with the offenders. According to embassy reports, the individuals claimed that their actions were meant as a joke and had no intention of causing offense or disrespect.
