"Captain America" Impersonator Indicted for Attempted Intrusion into Chinese Embassy
A man in his 40s, identified as An, has been indicted after attempting to break into the Chinese Embassy in South Korea while dressed as Marvel's "Captain America." According to media reports citing South Korean legal sources on March 19, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office formally charged An on March 17 with attempted unlawful entry, property damage, and destruction of public property.

Reports indicate that on February 14, An was detained after trying to enter the Chinese Embassy in South Korea but was later released. However, on February 20, An visited the Namdaemun Police Station, demanding an expedited investigation into his case. When his request was denied, he smashed the glass entrance of the police station in an attempt to force his way inside.
In addition to these charges, An faces accusations of insulting police officers and possessing a forged U.S. military ID during his intrusion attempt at the Chinese Embassy.
Previously according to Yonhap News Agency, on the evening of February 14, the Namdaemun Police Station detained a man in his 40s for attempting to enter the Chinese Embassy unlawfully. The suspect reportedly took advantage of an open gate to make his move before being swiftly subdued by multiple police officers. Video footage captured the dramatic moment when officers tackled the costumed intruder to the ground.
On February 17, the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that it was in close communication with the Chinese Embassy to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
