As Spring Festival nears, authorities in provinces like Zhejiang and Anhui have arrested individuals for illegally selling fireworks on social media. In Zhejiang, Hangzhou police detained a suspect, Zheng, for storing and selling fireworks without permits. They found nearly three tons of fireworks in a residential building.
Selling fireworks requires a business license and qualifications, with wholesale needing safety approval. Zheng marketed via WeChat after seeing online videos, investing heavily to buy and store the fireworks.
Similarly, in Dongying, Shandong, police arrested Wang for transporting fireworks without permits. She advertised and delivered them via social media. Unauthorized fireworks sales over 50,000 yuan or illegal gains over 10,000 yuan are criminal.
Sellers and those distributing information face legal responsibility if issues arise with the fireworks, according to the Ministry of Public Security. While providing info on authorized sellers is legal, promoting door-to-door delivery or unlicensed sales is not.
