Latest Change of Hongqiao Airport Affecting All Domestic Flights, Effective Jan 10



Shanghai Airport Authority announced on January 9th that starting from January 10th, the cut-off time for all domestic flights operating at Hongqiao Airport will be shortened to 35 minutes before departure. This change aims to provide passengers with more ample time for check-in procedures and enhance their travel experience.

The cut-off time is the latest time passengers can check-in and complete baggage drop-off procedures. This policy ensures the airport and airlines have enough time to complete over 10 tasks necessary before a flight's departure, thus guaranteeing safe and on-time flights.


Current Pudong Airport Cut-Off Times:


International, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan Flights:

  • 60 minutes before departure (90 minutes for Ethiopian Airlines)


Domestic Flights:

  • 40 minutes before departure for China Eastern, Shanghai Airlines, China Southern, China United Airlines

  • 45 minutes before departure for other airlines


Current Hongqiao Airport Cut-Off Times:


International, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan Flights:

  • 40 minutes before departure for Cathay Pacific, Hong Kong Airlines, Air Macau, China Airlines, Korean Air Lines, Asiana Airlines

  • 45 minutes before departure for other airlines


Domestic Flights:

  • 35 minutes before departure for China Eastern, Shanghai Airlines, China United Airlines (30 minutes for passengers without checked baggage)

  • 30 minutes before departure for Spring Airlines

  • 35 minutes before departure for other airlines
