Get Your Online Shopping Done This Week! Here's Why

If you're planning to shop online anytime soon, you might want to get it done in the next couple of days.

Chinese New Year is right around the corner, and it's going to impact both the availability of products and delivery times. Here's the deal—shopping and shipping might not be as smooth as usual during the holiday period.

The official Chinese New Year holiday runs from January 28th to February 4th, lasting 8 days. While many people are looking forward to the break, it also means that a lot of businesses, especially smaller, non-chain stores on platforms like Taobao, are shutting down early.

In fact, some shops will stop taking orders as early as January 18th. That's a full ten days before the actual holiday begins! So, if you've had your eye on something, you better grab it now.

Shop on Pinduoduo saying "shipment of this product is expected to be suspended from Jan 22"

Even though the holiday won't stop express delivery services altogether, things will definitely slow down. Many couriers, including big names like SF Express, will still operate, but there will be some changes. SF Express, for example, has announced that they'll add a "resource adjustment fee" during the holiday period. This fee will apply to services like heavy shipments or special handling.

What about offline stores? Well, similar to online shops, smaller, privately-owned businesses (like local markets) will likely close during the holidays. But don't worry about supermarkets, large malls, or restaurants—they'll probably stay open, since they're often busy during the holiday season. So, no need to panic-buy all your veggies.

But when it comes to things like online shopping or ordering food delivery, you should definitely plan ahead. Although services will continue, there could be price hikes or slower delivery times.

In short, if you're hoping to snag a deal or just stock up on your essentials, now's the time. Whether it's a new gadget, some cozy winter gear, or everyday necessities, try to finish your shopping before the holiday. After that, things might get a bit trickier!

Happy shopping and a smooth start to the New Year!
