German Professor Receives Integrated Card in Guangzhou

Anno Bernhard Dederichs stated that he was extremely pleased to be part of the first batch of foreigners in Guangzhou to obtain this integrated card on Wednesday. This card combines the functions of a work permit and a social security card.
The German professor from Sun Yat - sen University mentioned that with this card, his work and life in Guangzhou would become far more convenient and seamless in the coming months.
The card was jointly issued for foreigners by the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Science and Technology and the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Human Resources and Social Security.
According to a statement released by the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Science and Technology, foreigners holding this card can use it to handle matters related to social security, medical treatment, transportation, cultural and tourism activities, as well as financial consumption in the city.
The statement further added that this initiative will further advance the reform of service management for foreigners working and living in Guangzhou, enabling more foreign talents in the city to enjoy the conveniences brought about by the digital age.
The statement also noted that China officially implemented the integration of foreigners' work permits and social security cards on December 1.
In addition to Guangzhou, the capital city of Guangdong Province, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, and Dongguan also issued such physical cards to foreigners working and living in these cities on Wednesday.
By uploading foreigners' work permit information into the social security card system, the new integrated physical card is designed to offer more convenient and efficient services for foreigners working and living in the country.
The latest version of the physical card integrates functions such as work permit information inquiry, social security card service voucher, payment and settlement, and salary distribution.
