Wang recounted that after crossing a river, he was unaware that he had entered Myanmar until armed personnel forced him into a vehicle. Only then did he realize he was in a different country. He also revealed that the building he was in housed at least 50 people, and another building had individuals from various countries. Disturbingly, he disclosed that his hair had been forcibly shaved by scammers operating a fraudulent operation. According to Wang, everyone there, including himself, was required to have their hair shaved.
The incident first gained public attention on January 5, when a netizen claiming to be Wang's girlfriend posted on social media, reporting that the actor had gone missing while in Thailand for a film shoot. This sparked widespread concern, and the Chinese Embassy in Thailand was quickly involved.
The following day, on January 7, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun confirmed that China's consulates abroad had received requests for help from Wang's family members and were in close communication with the Thai authorities to verify the situation and provide assistance. The spokesperson assured that China would continue to follow the progress of the case and guide the embassies in their efforts.
Later that afternoon, the Chinese Consulate General in Chiang Mai issued a statement confirming that Thai authorities had located Wang and were conducting interviews with him regarding the incident. In the evening, the Chinese Embassy in Thailand also confirmed Wang's rescue and expressed gratitude to the Thai government for its efforts. The Thai police indicated that they would transport Wang to Bangkok for further investigation.
In a brief interview following his rescue, Wang Xing expressed his heartfelt thanks to both the Thai government and the immigration authorities for their prompt response. Despite the traumatic ordeal, he mentioned that he would consider returning to Thailand in the future.
On January 8, Wang Xing's girlfriend posted on Weibo, stating that she had met with Wang earlier that morning at an official Thai institution in Bangkok. Accompanied by embassy staff and a law firm, they were able to discuss the latest developments and the next steps with the local police.
