Where Does the Dust Come From?

The sources of dust pollution are being closely examined. Journalists recently visited several of the listed roads to investigate further.

Investigations revealed that Hangjin Road's pollution could be linked to various factors. Hangjin Road is surrounded by heavy industry, with large trucks constantly passing through. Furthermore, nearby road repairs last month could have contributed to the elevated dust levels. Local authorities believe that the construction work, coupled with the presence of heavy vehicles, created the ideal conditions for dust pollution.

To combat this, the exposed soil on nearby construction sites has been covered with dust-proof green membranes, and iron fences have been erected around the sites. Street cleaning efforts have also been ramped up, with increased cleaning frequencies and the use of continuous spraying systems to suppress dust.

Despite the abundance of greenery along Jinsha Road, local residents and tourists reported that the area's popularity, especially around the well-known Jiading Chenghuang Temple, might contribute to the pollution. The temple sees constant foot traffic, which, along with incense burning, may negatively impact the local air quality. Additionally, some residents have been observed engaging in illegal burning of offerings along green spaces and riverbanks, further exacerbating the pollution levels.

Local authorities are addressing this issue by conducting awareness campaigns and implementing stricter monitoring during special festivals or high-pollution periods.
