Over the past 10 years, the number of foreigners working long-term in Beijing has decreased by 15,000, dropping from 37,000 to 22,000. On November 2024, Beijing released its first 2024 Capital International Talent Development Report (Blue Paper), which shows that currently, over 22,000 foreigners are working long-term in the city. Half of the foreign talent in Beijing are concentrated in administrative and teaching positions, and 80% of them are located in the four districts of Chaoyang, Haidian, Shunyi, and Dongcheng, with more than half residing in Chaoyang. According to a report by The Beijing News on October 13, 2014, there were over 37,000 foreigners working long-term in Beijing at that time. These foreigners mostly came from countries such as the United States, Japan, South Korea, Germany, and Australia, and 95% of them held at least a bachelor's degree. They were primarily engaged in fields such as information technology, computer science, education, consulting, and scientific research.- Talent Quality Improves as Foreign Workforce Declines
The Capital International Talent Development Report (Blue Paper) notes that although the total number of foreigners in Beijing has declined in recent years, the quality of talent has improved, and the workforce structure has continuously optimized.
