Sick CHN dog spends 2 years beside owner’s grave, rescued by man

In a tale that tugs at the heartstrings, a devoted dog in China remained by her late owner's grave for two years, a poignant symbol of unwavering loyalty. The story took a heartwarming turn when a compassionate Good Samaritan not only cured her ailments but also offered her a new loving home.

A video shared by an influential figure and operator of a stray dog sanctuary in Jiangxi province, @ganpojiege, on November 5, captured the world's attention, garnering 85,000 likes and countless emotional comments. The heartening story began in 2022 when, with the aid of local villagers, @ganpojiege found the dog, suffering from severe skin disease and a crippled leg, steadfastly keeping vigil beside her owner's grave.

The villagers recounted how the dog had refused multiple attempts to be adopted, always returning to the grave, making it her home. She would occasionally venture to the village in search of sustenance, her loyalty never waning.

Upon encountering @ganpojiege, the dog displayed a gentle nature, eagerly eating the sausages offered to her. Touched by her story, he decided to take her back to his rescue center, promising the departed owner that he would ensure she could still visit the grave.

Named Zhongbao, or "Loyal Baby" in English, the dog's journey to recovery was not without its challenges. After a relapse in her skin condition, she was sent to a Shanghai hospital, where she was fully cured within two months.

Zhongbao has since been living among the many dogs rescued by @ganpojiege, her health restored, and her coat now long and lustrous. In recent updates, she appears as a transformed dog, a testament to the power of love and care.

True to his word, @ganpojiege has brought Zhongbao back to her previous owner's grave on several occasions, honoring the bond between a dog and her owner that transcends time.

The story of Zhongbao has moved countless online observers to tears, with many reflecting on the depth of a dog's loyalty and the enduring nature of the human-animal bond. "Dogs are truly a man's best friend," resonates a common sentiment, as Zhongbao's story becomes a beacon of hope and a reminder of the love that never fades.
