New Border Inspection Signs to Be Implemented Starting Dec 1



The National Immigration Administration (NIA) announced on November 27, 2024, that new signs for border inspection sites at ports will be implemented nationwide starting December 1, 2024. These updated signs will be introduced across 311 ports of entry, encompassing maritime, aviation, railway, and road transport ports.

The updated signs are categorized into Primary Signs and Functional Signs:


Primary Signs:
These indicate the presence of border inspection authorities at ports. They feature the Chinese Immigration Management logo alongside the bilingual text "China Immigration." 


Functional Signs:
These are designed to provide specific guidance at border inspection sites. The functional signs are subdivided into six categories with a total of 70 types, including:

  • 16 Channel Signs: Indicating inspection and transit pathways.

  • 6 Public Area Signs: For common spaces at ports of entry.

  • 21 Workplace and Facility Signs: Highlighting operational areas and equipment.

  • 9 Advisory Signs: Offering guidance and reminders.

  • 9 Prohibition Signs: Conveying restrictions and warnings.

  • 9 Directional Signs: Assisting travelers with navigation.


Travelers encountering issues can seek assistance from immigration officers on-site or contact the NIA hotline at 12367 for further inquiries.
