Recently, numerous social media users have reported widespread flight cancellations by China Southern Airlines. (CSA) on platforms such as Little Red Book. The cancellations, which have affected both Australia and New Zealand routes, have left many travelers frustrated and scrambling to find alternative arrangements.
- Cancellations Impacting China to Australia/New Zealand Routes
In recent days, reports have emerged that several CSA flights between China and both Australia and New Zealand, scheduled for December, have been canceled. Affected routes include Guangzhou to Christchurch, Guangzhou to Auckland, Auckland to Guangzhou, and Christchurch to Guangzhou, with flight dates falling on December 9, 16, 19, and 22. Additionally, flights between China and Australia have also been impacted, with many passengers reporting sudden cancellations. The majority of the affected flights appear to be operated by CSA, and some passengers have claimed they were not notified of the cancellations until after the fact, leaving them with little time to adjust their travel plans.
- Hainan Airlines Cancellations Earlier This Year
This is not the first instance of widespread flight cancellations. Earlier in November, passengers reported similar experiences with Hainan Airlines, which had canceled several China-New Zealand flights. Among the affected flights were Hainan Airlines' HU798 from Auckland to Haikou and HU797 from Haikou to Auckland. Some passengers had also booked tickets for Hainan Airlines' Christmas season flights from Sydney to Haikou, which were also canceled. After the earlier cancellations, many passengers rebooked with CSA, only to face further disruptions, adding to the frustration.- Speculations on the Causes of the Cancellations
The reasons behind these widespread cancellations remain unclear, with several theories circulating online. Some passengers have speculated that CSA may have sold off some of its planes, with the affected flights using the same aircraft models, leading to the theory that the cancellations could be related to the airline needing to deliver the aircraft after a sale. Others have suggested that the cancellations may be due to low passenger demand on certain routes. However, these are merely speculations, and no official explanation has been provided by the airline. For those planning to book flights, it is essential to regularly check flight statuses and stay informed about any changes. As seen in these recent cases, flight cancellations can occur unexpectedly. By staying updated on flight information, travelers can avoid disruptions and ensure their travel plans stay on track. Always confirm flight details ahead of time, and consider having a backup plan in place in case of sudden changes.
