The National Meteorological Centre reported at 8:00 AM on October 29 that Typhoon "KONG-REY" continues to strengthen and is anticipated to bring significant wind and rain impacts to the southeastern coast of China.

  • Potential for Strong Typhoon Conditions

As of the morning of October 28, Typhoon "KONG-REY," the 21st typhoon of the year, has intensified from a tropical storm to a strong tropical storm. It is expected to move northwest at approximately 15 kilometers per hour, gradually increasing in strength, with the potential to reach strong typhoon or super typhoon levels.
Current projections indicate that the likelihood of "KONG-REY" making landfall in China is increasing. The storm's intensity could rapidly escalate, leading to the development of a super typhoon. Additionally, a strengthening subtropical high-pressure system is pushing westward, which may cause "KONG-REY" to veer more to the west than previously expected.
  • Path Probability Forecast for Typhoon "KONG-REY" from 5 AM on October 29 to 5 AM on November 3

  • Critical Date: October 31
If "KONG-REY" brushes past or makes landfall on Taiwan, the chances of it continuing north toward Fujian and Zhejiang provinces will increase significantly. Should it land in Fujian or Zhejiang, it would set a historical record—no typhoon has made landfall in these provinces in November since 1949.
Conversely, if "KONG-REY" enters the South China Sea by October 31, it could continue westward, affecting Taiwan, Fujian, Zhejiang, and Guangdong.
Meteorological experts advise that the future trajectory of Typhoon "KONG-REY" remains uncertain, and adjustments to the impacted areas and intensity are possible. Residents in the southeastern coastal regions are urged to stay updated with the latest information and forecasts from meteorological authorities and to prepare accordingly.
