On October 30, reporters learned from the Hong Kong Police Force that the deceased woman, an Indonesian domestic worker, is believed to be a victim of murder. A married couple has been detained in connection with the case, with a foreign man arrested on suspicion of murder and his wife on suspicion of aiding a criminal. Police have not ruled out the possibility of a crime of passion, and the investigation is ongoing.

On the evening of October 29, Superintendent Sin Kwok-ming of the Hong Kong Island Crime Headquarters briefed the public on the case. According to Sin, at approximately 7 a.m. on October 28, a resident near Waterfall Bay Park discovered a woman's body beneath the waterfall. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, where the woman was pronounced dead.

The initial police investigation revealed that the victim suffered 2-4 cm wounds on her forehead and the back of her head, along with minor injuries on her limbs. Her clothing and belongings were found intact. A preliminary autopsy report confirmed that the woman had been struck on the head with a hard object and then drowned.

According to police sources, the victim had visited Waterfall Bay Park on the night of October 27 to meet with a man. This man allegedly left the park hurriedly in a taxi about half an hour later. The woman was discovered dead the following morning. Upon investigating, police determined that the man was a prime suspect and found that he and his wife had left Hong Kong for the mainland soon after the incident. Both were detained upon their return to Hong Kong.

Police stated that the woman, an Indonesian domestic worker in Hong Kong for three to four years, did not work for the detained couple. The man, a foreigner with a Hong Kong ID card, had known the victim for many years, while his wife is a local Hong Kong resident.

The police found it suspicious that the man did not report the incident immediately and fled to the mainland with his wife soon afterward. Given the evidence indicating a non-natural cause of death, the man was arrested on suspicion of murder. His wife, believed to be complicit, was detained for aiding a criminal, given her quick departure alongside her husband.

Currently, the case has been classified as a homicide. The foreign man is suspected of murder, while his wife is suspected of aiding a criminal. Police continue to investigate, focusing on the couple's connection to the victim and the circumstances surrounding the fatal encounter in the park. The possibility of a crime of passion has not been ruled out.
