Starting October 25, the pilot program for electronic port visas will expand from the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone Lingang New Area to cover the entire Pudong New District.

Foreigners invited to Shanghai by enterprises in Pudong and meeting the visa requirements can apply for electronic port visas, including F (Visit), M (Business), R (Talent), Z (Work), and S2 (Personal Affairs) categories, and enter China through Shanghai's ports.

The electronic port visa application process is fully online. Approved enterprises can log into the Shanghai Municipal Public Security Bureau's e-government platform to submit visa application information on behalf of the applicants. Once the electronic port visa is issued, the inviting organization can download the "Electronic Port Visa Confirmation" PDF and send it to the applicant. Applicants can then save the confirmation on their electronic devices or print it, allowing them to enter and stay in China with their passport and electronic visa.
