As of 11 PM on September 4, Typhoon Yagi has intensified into a super typhoon and is expected to make landfall along the coastal areas from Qionghai in Hainan to Dianbai in Guangdong between the afternoon and evening of September 6.Guangdong Takes Precautionary Measures
The Guangdong Meteorological Department warns that Typhoon Yagi will bring severe winds, rain, and storm surges to the region. In response, the cities of Yangjiang and Maoming have implemented the "Five Suspensions" emergency measures, while Zhanjiang has enforced stricter "Eight Suspensions" measures. Zhanjiang's emergency measures include suspending all tourism activities, suspending schools, suspending ferry services, suspending construction projects, cutting power to certain areas, cancelling public events, restricting non-emergency vehicles and suspending shopping malls in urban areas.Hainan Province Issues Emergency Notice On September 5, the Hainan Provincial Government issued an emergency notice to implement the "Five Suspensions and One Closure" measures. These include suspending classes, work, businesses, transportation, and ferry services, as well as closing tourist sites. Residents are advised to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary.Guangxi Elevates Warning Level At 9:30 AM on September 5, Guangxi raised its typhoon alert from yellow to orange. By 10 AM, the regional meteorological bureau upgraded the emergency response to Level II.Heavy Rain Expected Across Southern China According to meteorological predictions, from the afternoon of September 5 to September 8, southern parts of China, including Hainan, southwestern Guangdong, southern Guangxi, and parts of southern Yunnan, will experience heavy to torrential rain. Some areas in Hainan Island may see rainfall accumulation of 600 mm, with peak hourly rates of 40–60 mm, and up to 100 mm in localized spots. The heaviest rainfall is expected between the night of September 5 and September 7 in Hainan, Guangdong, and Guangxi, while Yunnan will see intense rainfall on the night of September 7 into September 8.
