"Sick Kid's Mother Asked to Sleep with Donor for Charity Funds?" Latest Update

Recently, a post has surfaced online accusing Lei, the Henan head of the China Children and Teenagers' Fund 9958 Emergency Relief Project, of demanding that the mother of a sick child sleep with him in exchange for donations. This revelation has garnered significant attention.

Reporters noted that Lei was once selected for the "China Good People List" as the president of the Wolong District Volunteer Service Association in Nanyang City. As of yesterday (August 6), staff from the Wolong District Civil Affairs Bureau informed that they are aware of the allegations against Lei and are currently investigating, with no results yet available.

The whistleblower's post claims, "Lei demanded the sick child's mother sleep with him once for a donation; another time, for another donation." A screenshot of a text message, allegedly sent by Lei to the mother, shows Lei apologizing and declaring his lifelong love for her, dated August 7, 2018. In another piece of evidence, a purported recording of a phone conversation features a man saying, "She slept with me, and I gave her a donation. It was voluntary."

On the morning of August 6, in response to the allegations, a staff member from the Wolong District Civil Affairs Bureau told reporters that they are aware of the situation and are currently investigating, with no conclusions drawn yet.

Reporters reviewed public records and found that Lei, the accused, was listed in the "China Good People List" in December 2017 as the president of the Wolong District Volunteer Service Association in Henan Province. His notable deeds included being a "gold medal volunteer dedicated to helping impoverished students," under the category of "helping others."

According to the China Civilization Network, Lei was born in November 1979 and serves as the president of the Wolong District Volunteer Service Association in Nanyang City, Henan Province. Since 2010, Lei has visited and assisted over 600 disadvantaged families in various counties and districts of Nanyang City. He has rescued over 50 people, including a 4-year-old orphan abandoned by his parents due to hydrocephalus, a college student suffering from hydrocephalus, and the daughter of a "miniature mother" with congenital heart disease. Lei has received numerous accolades, including the "Henan Province Gold Medal Volunteer" and "Nanyang City Moral Model."

The public and authorities await further updates on this matter as the investigation progresses.
