Is Your Community Still Strictly Following Waste Sorting?

VOTE | Is Your Community Still Strictly Following Waste Sorting?

Shanghai has been a pioneer in waste sorting, and the city's recent mid-year report on waste management shows impressive results. The report, released on July 13, 2024, reveals that the average score across the city's 16 districts is an outstanding 96.46. This high score reflects the city's commitment to maintaining high standards in waste sorting and management.

How Is Your Community Doing?

With such high marks citywide, it raises an important question: Is your community still strictly following waste sorting rules? Are the bins in your neighborhood being used correctly, or have you noticed a decline in participation?

Some districts like Jing'an, Hongkou, Putuo, Changning, Yangpu, Huangpu, Pudong, and Xuhui have excelled, scoring above the city average. These areas have maintained high standards in waste sorting from the source and efficient waste collection systems. If you live in one of these districts, your community is most likely doing exceptionally well!

However, not all areas have kept up. The report highlights that certain neighborhoods and villages have scored below 80, with some, like Sita Yicun in Zhangmiao Street, Baoshan District, scoring as low as 59.74.

Let's Talk About It!

Have you noticed any changes in how waste is being sorted in your community? Is everyone still following the rules, or do you see more mixed waste in the bins? Perhaps your neighborhood is doing great, or maybe you're one of the areas that need improvement. Share your experiences!

What's Working Well? If your community is excelling, what do you think is driving the success? Is it community awareness, better management, or regular enforcement of rules?

Challenges Faced: If your area is struggling, what do you think are the main challenges? Is it a lack of awareness, inadequate facilities, or something else?

Your Suggestions: What do you think could be done to improve waste sorting in your area? Would more community engagement help, or perhaps stricter enforcement of rules?

Shanghai's overall performance is commendable, with a citywide satisfaction rate of 96%, according to a June survey. Let's keep the conversation going and see what's happening!
