Foreign passenger arrested for smoking on aircraft

The Airport Public Security Bureau received a report from the crew of flight CA1463 from Beijing to Guiyang on August 9.

The attendants reported that a foreign passenger smoking an e-cigarette in the cabin lavatory activated the smoke alarm.

After receiving the report, the officers promptly proceeded to the aircraft's parking position to address the situation.

Officials summoned the passenger for interrogation and conducted an investigation.

The investigation found that the passenger's actions violated Article 23, Paragraph 1, Item (3) of the "Law of the People's Republic of China on Penalties for Administration of Public Security," which constitutes a violation of public order on a public transport vehicle.

The police imposed a five-day administrative detention on the individual.

We reported the incident to the appropriate departments in accordance with the procedures for managing foreign-related cases.

We have transported the individual to the Guiyang Administrative Detention Centre to complete the detention.
