City Launches Online Application for Foreign Work Permits

  The Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City in Sanya, Hainan Province, has initiated a pilot program for the online application of foreign work permits. 

  Foreigners working in Sanya who have been recognized as "Foreign High-Level Talents (Category A)" or "Foreign Professional Talents (Category B)" by any local management department within the Hainan Free Trade Port can now apply for new work permits entirely online.

Key Details:

  Eligibility: Foreigners already recognized as Category A or B talents within the Hainan Free Trade Port, who are changing jobs within the same profession.

Required Documents:

1.Application form for the foreigner's work permit in China

2.Sanya Foreign Talent (Category A, B) single recognition application form

3.Employment contract

4.Proof of cancellation of previous work permit

5.Passport

6.Work-type residence permit or visa

No Longer Required:

7.Proof of work experience (unless changing job positions)

8.Highest degree certificate and its verification

9.Criminal record certificate

10.Medical examination report

11.Additional documents related to high-end talent qualifications

Who Can Apply:

  This policy applies to those classified as Category A or B under the "Classification Standards for Foreigners Working in China (Trial)" and the "Interim Measures for the Administration and Services of Foreigners Working in Hainan." It does not apply to "Other Foreign Personnel (Category C)."

  Reminder: The policy also applies to those changing employers within Sanya and reapplying for work permits.

Acceptance Scope:

  The policy is applicable to foreign employees hired within the Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City in Sanya.

Acceptance Conditions:

1.Foreigners previously recognized as Category A or B talents by any local management department within the Hainan Free Trade Port.

2.The foreigner has not exited China after terminating the contract with the previous employer, and the work-type residence permit has not been canceled or has been replaced with another stay visa within one month of transferring to a new job in Sanya.

3.The job position (profession) remains unchanged when applying for a new work permit in Sanya.

Application Process:

  Employers must submit applications through the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security's "National Public Service Platform for Human Resources and Social Security" (www.12333.gov.cn).
