Typhoon Gaemi intensified into a super typhoon at 8 a.m. today, July 24, becoming the third typhoon of the year.
Guangdong will experience elevated temperatures on July 24–25 due to its exterior descending air currents.
We expect temperatures to rise to 35 to 37 degrees Celsius, with some regions potentially exceeding 38 degrees Celsius.
The meteorological office anticipates that there will be some respite by Friday, with the potential for rain as a result of a convergence zone shift to the north.
We expect predominantly cloudy weather in Dongguan from July 24 to 25, with maximum temperatures of approximately 36 degrees Celsius.
We anticipate short-term strong winds up to level 8 during thunderstorms in Dongguan on July 26–27, accompanied by mostly cloudy to overcast skies and localized heavy to severe rain.
From July 28 to 30, we anticipate southeast winds to accompany moderate thunderstorms with localized heavy to severe rain. From July 31 to August 1, we anticipate frequent thunderstorm activity due to the southwest airflow.
Residents should remain vigilant in anticipation of short-term heavy rainfall, lightning, strong winds, and associated disasters. Due to the intense heat, residents should implement precautions against sunburn and heatstroke. Avoid prolonged outdoor activities.
Railway services in eastern Guangdong will be disrupted, resulting in the suspension of several trains on July 25, as Gaemi is anticipated to impact or make landfall along China's southeastern coast.
On July 25, the Hangzhou-Shenzhen High-Speed Railway, Meizhou-Shantou High-Speed Railway, Zhangzhou-Longyan, and Shejiang-Longhu Railways will suspend specific trains. The China Railway Guangzhou Group made this announcement.
Additionally, the Shenzhen Railway will suspend or modify the routes of certain high-speed trains. At 10 a.m. on July 24, the Shenzhen Railway will suspend all high-speed trains that travel through Hangzhou-Shenzhen to Meizhou, Shantou, Xiamen, and Wenzhou on July 25.
The affected trains will instead conclude their journeys at Chaoshan Station.
Without incurring refund fees, passengers who have tickets for suspended trains may obtain complete refunds within 30 days (including the day of travel) at railway station ticket windows or through the 12306 website and mobile app.
