On July 25, the Customs reported the seizure of a large sum of undeclared currency from a foreign passenger entering China.

During the inspection of an inbound flight at Guangzhou Baiyun Airport, customs officers noticed abnormal images from the luggage of a passenger who had chosen the "no declaration" channel. Upon further inspection, they found 1.495 million euros and 70,000 Swiss francs, amounting to approximately 12.08 million RMB.

Customs officials remind that currency in cash is classified as a restricted item for entry and exit. Passengers carrying more than 20,000 RMB or foreign currency equivalent to over 5,000 USD must declare the amount to customs and choose the "declaration channel" for clearance.
