Police Helps Int'l Student Find His Lost Wallet in 60 minutes

Victor, an international student in Beijing, was preparing to board a tube when he realised that he had left his wallet on a communal bike outside the station.

He stated that he had ridden the bicycle to the south entrance of Huixin West Street station and arrived at 11:15 on July 12.

He left his wallet in the bicycle basket, containing his passport, numerous bank cards, and currency.

He discovered that the bike couldn't be located after exiting the station.

He had no alternative but to request assistance from the authorities.

Mr. Cuilei, the officer who assumed responsibility for Victor's case, reported that he discovered that a man in a purple t-shirt had stolen the bicycle Victor had left outside the station after reviewing surveillance footage.

Cuilei subsequently provided the bike-sharing company with Victor's mobile phone in order to determine which cycle he was operating.

They were able to locate the contact number of the individual who used the bike after Victor obtained the bike information.

The individual, who identified himself as Mr. Wang, informed the authorities that he had discovered the wallet in the basket of the bicycle and was apprehensive that the individual who had lost it was also concerned.

However, he couldn't contact the person who lost the wallet because no document inside contained any contact information.

He added that a hospital appointment was pressing him for time. Consequently, he delivered the wallet to the security officer at the hospital, requesting that he assist in locating its owner.

Cuilei and Victor subsequently visited the hospital, where they obtained the wallet from the security officer in accordance with Wang's instructions.

Victor exhaled in relief upon discovering that his pocketbook was unharmed, and he subsequently declared, "China is truly secure!"

The entire procedure required one hour.

Victor expressed his gratitude to Cuilei by writing a thank-you letter upon his return to his dormitory.
