On July 15, the Beijing Daxing Airport police reported a case in which a foreign male passenger caused a commotion among the flight crew by vaping in the aircraft lavatory.
The airline has since imposed a penalty on the individual.
As per the report, the smoke alarm abruptly activated during the flight from Zhoushan to Beijing Daxing on the evening of June 14, 2024, while the aircraft was cruising at high altitude.
The personnel implemented their emergency procedures in a timely and orderly manner to prevent passengers from becoming alarmed.
The haze originated from a foreign passenger vaping in the rear lavatory.
Police officers from the Daxing Airport Terminal Substation recalled the passenger for an investigation upon landing.
The foreigner admitted to vaping in the lavatory, mistakenly believing that the smoke detector wouldn't trigger.
Consequently, the Public Security Administration Punishment Law subjected him to administrative detention.
The police would like to remind the public that the "Notice of the Public Security Bureau of the Civil Aviation Administration of China on Maintaining Civil Aviation Order and Ensuring Air Transport Safety" contains a pertinent notice that prohibits smoking (including electronic cigarettes) on board.
The public security organs will administer punishments in accordance with the "Law of the People's Republic of China on Public Security Administration Punishments." to individuals who violate the provisions of the notice.
The law will hold criminals responsible for their actions.
