Foreigner lost a bag with10k cash; the driver returned it intact

A foreign student in Haikou, south China's Hainan Province, forgot his backpack at the seat of a bus line G51 on the morning of July 2. The backpack, he said, contained 10,000 yuan in cash, a passport, student id card, mobile phone, and other documents.

The chauffeur, Ms. Wang Xiaohui, was fortunate to receive the rucksack from a passenger who discovered it.

According to Xiaohui, a number of foreign students boarded the bus at approximately 9:55 a.m. on July 2. She remembered that it happened at the Dong'ermen station of the Hainan Normal University (Guilingyang Campus).

Xiaohui stated that they all occupied the rear of the bus and disembarked approximately one hour later at East Lake Station.

Upon the bus's arrival at the Qiongzhou Bridge, a passenger informed the driver that they had discovered an unclaimed backpack on the rear seat and had given it to her.

She quickly confirmed the backpack did not belong to any bus passengers. She then decided to hand it over to the bus dispatch office when she reached the final station, so they could record it as a lost backpack.

The person at the bus dispatch office, Yan Xilin, reported that the police had contacted him to ask if he had found a knapsack on bus line G51.

The police provided a detailed description of the knapsack and informed him that it contained a significant amount of cash, student IDs, a passport, and other documents.

Upon her arrival at the office, Xiaohui promptly surrendered the rucksack to the lost and found section.

Yan then informed her that the police had recently contacted him to search for the rucksack. The driver had recovered the rucksack and was currently located at the office, he informed the authorities.

In the afternoon, the student arrived at the control room to retrieve his knapsack.

Following an examination of the contents, he declared the rucksack to be undamaged and expressed gratitude to Yan and the chauffeur for their assistance.
