Customs reported the seizure of a substantial amount of undeclared currency from a foreign passenger upon their arrival in China on July 25.
Customs officers discovered anomalous images in the luggage of a passenger who had selected the "no declaration" channel during the inspection of an inbound flight at Guangzhou Baiyun Airport.
Upon further examination, they discovered 1.495 million euros and 70,000 Swiss francs, which is equivalent to approximately 12.08 million RMB.
We remind customs officials that cash currency is considered a restricted item for entry and exit.
Passengers must declare to customs any quantity of more than 20,000 RMB or foreign currency equivalent to over 5,000 USD, and select the "declaration channel" for clearance.
