Virus Might Be in All Iranian Cities

Irans Health Ministry on Friday reportedly confirmed the coronavirus had spread to several cities nationwide, before adding the flu-like virus might exist in all of them.


Based on existing reports, the spread of the coronavirus started in Qom and with attention to peoples travels has now reached several cities in the country, including Tehran, Babol, Arak, Isfahan, Rasht and other cities. And it is possible that it exists in all cities in Iran, Health Ministry official Minou Mohrez said Friday, Reuters reported.


Iran has confirmed 13 new cases of the coronavirus, seven were diagnosed in Qom, four in Tehran and two in Gilan. The total number of confirmed cases in Iran has now climbed to 18, with four deaths.


Hubei Corrects Data


Hubei Province corrected its Thursday new infection data from 411 to 631, adding new infections in prisons which was 220 as reported by Thursday, local health commission said on Friday noon.


Shandong data, which was labeled "pending" in yesterday's table came late; and included 220 infected cases, the majority came from a prison in Shandong. 



The 'New' infected data in the table at the top of this article , for Hubei & Shandong, shows two numbers; the 366 represents the official data after yesterday's data was corrected. While 1012 represents versus yesterday's table before correction.  


South Korea Exceeds 300 Cases 


South Korea has confirmed an additional 190 cases of the coronavirus, 346. Most of the new cases came from the city of Daegu, with many linked to Sincheon Daegu Church.


Schools were shuttered, churches told worshipers to stay away and some mass gatherings were banned as cases of a new virus swelled Friday. 


Meanwhile, the US military in South Korea has raised its danger level and urgently blocked all bases and facilities in Daegu due to the COVID-19 spread.


First Death in Italy, Cases Quadruple


A 78-years-old patient in the northern city of Padua has died after being infected with the coronavirus, becoming the first Italian victim of the disease. 


The number of people infected with the new virus from China has more than quadrupled due to an emerging cluster of cases in the country's north. Many of the new cases represented the first infections in Italy acquired through secondary contagion and brought the country's total to 17 on Friday. 


Authorities in northern Italy ordered the closure of schools, bars and other public spaces in 10 towns following a flurry of new coronavirus cases.


A 38-year-old Italian man is hospitalized in critical condition. The man's wife and a friend of his also tested positive for the virus. Three patients at the hospital where he went with flu-like symptoms a few days ago also have infections. Five nurses and doctors contracted the virus as well.


Residents of three towns in Italy's northern Lombardy region were told to stay at home as doctors tested hundreds of people who may have come in contact with the six patients, none of whom were believed to have traveled to China.


Kuwait Stop All Iran Flights 


Kuwait's civil aviation authority has decided to stop all flights to and from Iran Kuwaiti nationals arriving from Iran will be subjected to quarantine, Moreover, any foreign travellers coming from Iran will also be denied entry. 


Meanwhile, Iraq banned border crossings by Iranian nationals for three days from Thursday amid fears of the coronavirus, Iraq's state news agency said on Thursday. The decision came after Iraqi Airways suspended flights to Iran.


One Infected in Israel


Israels Ministry of Health on Friday confirmed a passenger returning from a coronavirus-hit cruise ship in Japan has tested positive for COVID-19.


The patient is in quarantine and under supervision. The remaining passengers returning to Israel have tested negative for the coronavirus 


Lebanon Reports First Case


Lebanon has recorded its first confirmed coronavirus case, and two other suspected cases are being investigated, Lebanese Health Minister Hassan Hamad said on Friday.


"The virus was found in a 45-year-old Lebanese woman who had traveled from Qom in Iran," Hamad said.


The patient is under quarantine and is being transferred to the Rafik Hariri University Hospital in Beirut, media outlets reported citing hospital officials. 


Discharged Patient Tested Positive After 10 Days


A coronavirus patient from Chengdu who had been cured and discharged from hospital, was found nucleic-acid positive on the 10th day after returning home, the health commission in Sichuan Province said Fri.


North Korea Cancels Pyongyang Marathon


North Korea has canceled its Pyongyang Marathon scheduled for April due to the coronavirus outbreak, a Western tour company said Friday.


Nissan & Honda Delay Some China Plants


Nissan said Friday that it would keep plants in Xianyang, Hubei province, and Zhengzhou, Henan province, closed after Feb. 24., Reuters reported, citing an email from the automaker. Nissan did not give a new date for reopening.


Meanwhile, Honda said operations in Wuhan, the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak, would remain suspended until March 11. 


China Retail Sales Plunge 92%


Sales of Chinas passenger vehicles tumbled 92% in the first 16 days of February, as compared with the same period last year, data from the China Passenger Car Association showed, according to Reuters.


Amazon To Take Down Products Claiming to Kill the Virus


Amazon is removing listings from its online marketplace that claim to help stop the spread of the coronavirus, according to an email obtained by CNBC.


Amazon was one of several tech giants that met with the World Health Organization at Facebooks Menlo Park, Calif. offices to discuss how to stop misinformation about the coronavirus on their platforms. Bad actors have attempted to make money off of fears around the coronavirus. 


WHO To Visit Wuhan


The WHO-led team of international experts in China will travel to coronavirus epicenter city of Wuhan on Saturday and investigate the outbreak, WHO announced on Friday.


Meanwhile, Wuhan local authorities Said Friday plans to build another 19 makeshift hospitals to receive more infected patients. 


Infections in Prisons



Out of the 28 cases reported in Zhejiang yesterday, 27 were from Shilifeng prison. Similarity Shandong reported 202 new cases including 200 in Rencheng prison New cases in these two provinces accounted for 89% of the total newly infected yesterday. Wuhan Women's Prison reported 230 infection cases in the prison yesterday.

1st Province to Downgrade Emergency Level


Gansu Province has become the first to downgrade its level of emergency response from level one to three, as of 2 p.m. BJT, Friday, according to local authorities.


No new cases of novel coronavirus have been reported in Gansu Province for three days. Ninety-one cases have been confirmed in the province, with 71 patients recovered.


Kyrgyzstan Halts New Visas to Chinese Nationals


Kyrgyzstan suspended the issuance of new visas to Chinese nationals because of the coronavirus outbreak in the neighbouring country, Kyrgyz news agency Akipress quoted deputy foreign minister Nurlan Abdrakhmanov as saying.


Chinese nationals who already have Kyrgyz visas are still allowed to enter the country, Abdrakhmanov said.


Young Chinese Doctor Dies of Coronavirus


A 29-year-old doctor at the epicentre of China's new coronavirus outbreak died from the disease, one of the youngest known fatalities of the epidemic and the latest among medical workers.


Peng Yinhua died on Thursday after becoming infected while working at Wuhan's Jiangxia district People's No 1 Hospital, official news agency Xinhua reported.


Only 3 US States Can Test CoronaVirus


Only three states can test for coronavirus because of flawed kits

California, Nebraska and Illinois are the only U.S. states that can currently test for coronavirus, the Association of Public Health Laboratories told Reuters. The CDC last week said some of the testing kits sent to U.S. states and at least 30 countries produced inconclusive results due to a flawed component, and the CDC planned to send replacement materials to make the kits work. 


Water Accommodation For Wuhan Medical Staff


To support the front-line medical staff working and living conditions in Wuhan. The first "blue whale" cruise ship has arrived at Wangjia Port Terminal in Wuhan. Front-line medical staff will be using the cruise ship for accomodation.
