China Announces When Schools Will Reopen! Rumors Denied!

On February 19, Beijing Municipal Education Commission denied the fake news that schools in Beijing would open at the beginning of March on its WeiBo account and stressed the timing would depend on the epidemic situation and be released officially.

The clarification

Lately, multiple local education bureaus in China have announced their schooling arrangements striking against the epidemic.

Guangzhou: Schools to open in Groups

The clarification for Guangzhou

Per Guangzhou Education Bureau on February 20, no schools or training institutions (offline businesses) will open before the end of February, and all examinations and practices will be postponed. The timing will be announced timely depending on the epidemic situation. Its confirmed that schools in Guangzhou will open in groups.

Colleges and universities in Guangzhou shall arrange the staff and students to return orderly per departments, grades, and geographical situations of returnees based on the actual situation.

However, it will be no earlier than that of primary and secondary schools. Other schools shall open in three groups as follows:

• 1st Group: Grade 3 of senior high schools.

  
  

• 2nd Group: Graduation grade of secondary vocational schools and technical schools; Grade 1 & 2 of senior high schools; junior high schools and primary schools.

  
  

• 3rd Group: Non- graduation grade of secondary vocational schools and technical institutions; kindergartens and child-care centers.

The offline service of training institutions shall not start earlier than the school opening.

Hangzhou: to Start Online classes from March 2nd

The clarification for Hangzhou

On February 19, 2020, Hangzhou Education Department announced the school opening time had not been determined and online classes of primary schools, high schools and secondary vocational schools would be provided from March 2 and released a two-week schedule as follows:

• March 2nd 6th: To release school timetable on February 26th, and class videos before 27th noon.

  
  

• March 9th - 13th: To release school timetable on March 4th, and class videos before March 5th noon.

The clarification for Henan

On the same day, Henan clarified that all schools will start after March 1st, where Grade 3 students of senior and junior high schools could return to class first, and kindergartens could wait. Jiangsu also stated the school opening would be done in a staggered way without giving a date.

Besides, Sichuan, Guangdong, Shandong, Shaanxi stated that the delayed classes of primary and secondary schools could be made up on the coming weekend and summer vacation.
