92 Foreign Students Expelled from Wuhan University Because

On November 29, Wuhan University expelled 92 international students who failed to register within the prescribed time limit and skipped classes and other teaching activities without asking for leave.

Yiwen Mo, Deputy Director of the Admissions Office of International Studies at Wuhan University, told reporters that the expelled individuals include undergraduate students, graduate students and other more advanced students from more than a dozen countries.

Specific reasons vary from test failures, violation of university rules, and non-payment of tuition.

Weve reminded those students a year ago about their behavior and urgent situation, Ms. Mo added, but they did not comply with university rules despite our constant communication.

Stricter regulations implemented by the Ministry of Education have had a slight impact on the inflow of international students coming to study, and their return depends heavily on how well they integrate themselves into community and university life.

Foreign students enrolled at Wuhan University are expected to write and defend their thesis according to the same principles and guidelines as their fellow Chinese classmates.

If the student is absent for more than 20 hours, he or she will be given a warning, the severity of which will increase depending on the students willingness to comply and pursue their education with the university as expected and originally intended.
