Nov 20: Deafheaven

Deafheaven, who have left an undeniable footprint on modern metal, will play Bandai Namco on November 20. Described by Rolling Stone as a boundary-pushing blend of black metal, shoegaze and post-rock, Californian post-metal five-piece Deafheaven combine screamo vocals and pounding drums with surprisingly melodic guitars to mesmerising effect. Following on from their critically acclaimed 2018 album Ordinary Corrupt Human Love, which featured the Grammy-nominated single Honeycomb, the bands China tour promises to be something very special indeed.

Nov 21-22: Cubanismo-Tribute to Ruben Gonzalez & Benny More

Cubanismo! has recorded seven albums and has toured more than 50 countries worldwide performing at the worlds biggest Jazz festivals, theaters, art centers and dancing halls. In 2008 their release Greetings from Havana (Aim Records) was Grammy-nominated for Best Tropical Latin Album.

Nov 22: Fazi

Xian rockers Fazi drop into Shanghai this weekend for a show on their China tour, following on from a recent independent release with fellow Maybe Mars band, Hiiperson, called Day & Night. We dont regularly get an appearance from the excellent rockers in Shanghai so this is a treat. Support will be provided by post punk, Television impressarios Mirrors on the evening.

Nov 22: Yogee New Waves

Japanese band Yogee New Waves are one of the foremost Japanese bands keeping city pop alive. They head to China for a number of shows, plus appearances at Modern Skys Strawberry Festival, on the back of their March release, album BLUEHARLEM.

Nov 23: New Noise 10 Year Anniversary

Celebrating 10 years of awesome shows in China, New Noise have a big November planned. Besides bringing bands like Mum and Deafhaven on tour, New Noise bring together Blue Foundation, Mum and Dalian post rocker Wang Wen for a show in Shanghai this month.

After canceling their tour dates in China after sole-remaining member from the release of their seminal punk album, Entertainment!, Andy Gill injured himself at a show in Brooklyn, these iconic rockers are finally making their way to China.

Nov 24: Kafe Hu

Sichuan rapper Kafe Hu, who has been integral in helping to establish the Chengdu rap scene, swings into Shanghai this weekend. The musicians conscious hip hop efforts have driven forward the genre in the country, with significant efforts including 2017s KAFREEMAN.

Nov 24: Shengjian Records Hiding in Your Room

Shanghai and Hangzhou based label Shengjian Records have put together this excellent little showcase on a quiet Sunday evening. If youre free, you should swing by to catch excellent bands like Kirin Trio (Xiamen), Atta Girl (Shenzhen), Zoogazer (Xuzhou) and Happy Little Cat.
