Doctor Sucked Old Mans Urine, Saved His Life On Flight!

Something very peculiar happened on the flight of China Southern Airlines CZ399 on route to New York from Guangzhou on November 19.

By 1:55 am, most of the passengers had fallen asleep.

As usual, Cabin Service Director Feng Ling and other cabin attendants made a round of the cabin, as per the requirements of their role, to check on passengers.

Six hours prior to landing, Feng Ling heard from one of the cabin attendants that an elderly passenger was unable to urinate and needed medical help.

The Director rushed to the passenger, who looked emotionally distraught and immediately proceeded with finding a doctor among the passengers who might be able to assist them.

After hearing the announcement, Zhang Hong, a surgeon from the first affiliated hospital of Jinan University Hospital (Guangzhou overseas Chinese hospital), and Xiao ZhanXiang, a surgeon from Hainan People's hospital, rushed over to examine the passenger.

As it turned out, the passenger had about 1000 ml of urine, and failure to get it out would risk bladder rupture. This became an emergency in need of immediate assistance.

After obtaining consent from the passenger, both doctors began to put together a medical device that would enable him to urinate.

Dr. Xiao used a portable oxygen bottle mask catheter, syringe needle, bottled milk straw and self-made puncture and urine suction device made of adhesive cloth. Crew members asked the passenger to get onto a side position for easier treatment.

However, due to limited space and an over-expansion of the bladder, the operation was shortly put on hold until Dr. Zhang came up with a brave, slightly uncomfortable solution: to suck the urine out himself so as to control the speed and strength of the output.

Now thats true medical dedication.

He proceeded with sucking the urine out and into a cup while constantly adjusting pressure levels, while the cabin crew was attending the passenger to ensure he would be in the most comfortable state of mind as he could be.

After half an hour, the doctor successfully helped the old man discharge 700-800 ml of urine, leaving him in a much more relieved state.

The two doctors went back to check on the passenger a little while later, who had fully recovered from his earlier discomfort.

Upon hearing this news, a reporter interviewed Dr. Zhang and asked if hed had second thoughts about sucking the urine out himself, to which he answered:

"It was an emergency and I couldn't think of any better way to treat him. We had to drain the urine from his bladder as soon as possible, and my priority was to help him any way I could.

A doctor whos willing to do whatever it takes to treat a patient in need - bravo!!

What do you think of this unusual intervention?
