Court Sentences Foreigners to Death & Life Imprisonment For....

On November 8th 2019, Guangzhou intermediate people's Court issued a public verdict on a drug smuggling case involving three foreigners...

The sentence is as follows:


A defendant from Mali, named Ali, was sentenced to death. The other two defendants, Sakuragi Sakurai, a Japanese man, and Moses, a Guinean man, were sentenced to life imprisonment, with all their personal properties being confiscated.

As per the first instance of court held on October 31st, 2013, Sakura was caught while trying to take a flight back to Japan from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport via Shanghai. The security inspectors seized 3,289g of methamphetamine that were being smuggled in their luggage.


Later, on November 18th and 19th of the same year, the Chinese police arrested Moses and Ali, who were responsible for packing, storing and delivering the luggage, and seized 18.15g of methamphetamine at their residences.
