Until Nov 1: A Taste of Thailand

Shanghai gourmets will have a unique opportunity to taste authentic Thai delicacies presented by Thai Chef Thitid Ton Tassanakajohn of Le Du in Bangkok, which has most recently been awarded a Michelin one star and ranked #20 on the Asias 50 Best Restaurants list, released in 2019.

Nov 1: First Fridays @ The Rooster

TGIFF or Thank God Its First Friday! Swing by The Rooster on the first Friday of every month from 7-8pm for free prosecco or select craft draft beer. Dont free drinks sound like a great way to kick off your weekend? First Friday starts this week with your choice of a glass of bubbly prosecco or a pint of Jing-A Workers Pale Ale, so dont miss out.

Nov 2: Day of the Dead @ Pistolera

Be prepared to drink, dance and truly celebrate life by appreciating the meaning of this Mexican cultural tradition. Choose the Pistolera nearest you, because they have three separate events going on. From bloody margaritas to bloody Marias, from dancing to live music with the undead, to posing for photos, they promise a night to remember. The Hengshan Lu location offers face painting on-site to capture your scary looks if that helps you make a decision.

The Captain Bar welcomes Mr. Samuel Ng (Four Pillars Brand Ambassador) for a guest shift. If you are into gin, you dont want to miss this event. Weve attended a few of Ngs guest shifts, and hes tons of fun. Plus, The Captain has one of the best views on the Bund with the most casual setting.

Nov 3: Rioja Fantastico

Once again, La Maison partners with with Rioja Wines and Pol Garcia to present Rioja Fantastico, a wine and food festival highlighting eight Rioja wineries paired with the creations of eight top Shanghai chefs (the full list is on the flyer above).

Nov 3: 14th Annual Shanghai Chili Cook-Off

The annual Shanghai Chili Cook-Off and Music Festival is this Sunday at Cages from 11am-5pm featuring live music from Rock Suey and the Faux Fighters. Entry gets you one free beer and chili samples while they last. Come see who is crowned King of the Chili Pot this year!

Nov 3: Coconut Battle

Coconut culture has been growing in China for the past five years, and the folks at gre3n want to ensure that everyone is aware of the versatility and health benefits of this gift from mother nature the tree of life. To raise awareness, they are bringing Shanghais F&B community together for a competition rooted in healthy living and wellness. To this end, chefs and mixologists are competing to showcase their best coconut-based recipes.

Nov 5: Four Pillars Guest Bartender at Caf Gray Deluxe

Four Pillars Gin is a leading craft spirit in Australia, and one of the worlds most in-demand craft gins. This November 5, Four Pillars Australian [Gin] Open champion Satoshi Sugiura of The Odd Couple Shanghai will head to Caf Gray Deluxe to spread some gin love with three drinks featuring Four Pillars Gin.

Nov 8: Ditch the Milk

Its hard to beat a warm chocolate chip cookie dunked into a glass of milk, but wed honestly prefer an adult beverage like beer. Stone Brewing has the right idea, casting off the milk in favor of four beer-cookie duos (RMB158) on November 8. Kick things off with the seasonally appropriate Chai-Spiced Imperial Russian Stout and a pumpkin spice cookie. Next, nibble Strictly Cookies flavor-of-the-month, caramel apple crunch alongside Stone Wazzle Barrel-Aged Sour. Stone Go to IPA with a cinnamon bun cookie also sounds good, theres a brew that tastes like carrot cake that we want to try. That Juli Goldenberg/Monkey Paw/Stone 24 Carrot Golden Ale comes with Go Nuts cookie.

Nov 10: Farm to Table Dinner

We know you prefer to fly by the seat of your pants when it comes to making plans, but there are a limited number of seats for this. Kaixin Cooking proudly presents its first farm to table dinner in collaboration with Vert City Farm and Epermarket. The healthy Chinese popup dinner will feature organic, seasonal ingredients grown locally in Chongming.

Nov 12: Hairy Crab Feast

Ever wondered why Shanghai goes crab crazy two months out of the year? Find out why, and also discover the reasons Tang Dynasty poets immortalized these crabs in verse millennia ago with this hairy crab feast. This tour showcases the delicacy in a local, authentic setting. Youll walk through the streets of Shanghais Old Town, an area that is currently disappearing lane by lane, and sample several classic hairy crab dishes, including wontons in hairy crab broth, crab roe lions head meatballs and more.
