The American Chamber of Commerce, the Shanghai Immigration Bureau, the Vegan Community and of course, and yours truly AnyHelper, are all rooting for the budding entrepreneurs in Shanghai there is a new visa provision that is going to make your unique, innovative business idea come to life.

Having said that, we accidentally found during our research someemma bit too unique of business ideas, that became not just successful start-ups, but had a gross yearly revenue exceeding 1,000,000 USD.

Yes, my dear followers, these ideas, made millionaires. We want to share the shock, laughter and even a sense of admiration we found for these start-ups.

Here are AnyHelpers top picks for the worlds craziest business ideas, in reverse order of ridiculousness.

PS: Do not forget to sign up for the American Chamber of Commerce Event on Wednesday 23rd Oct, next week.

Santa Mail

If you thought honesty was the key to a successful relationship, think again. Santmail.org, charge around 10 USD to parents, who want to send their kids a letter from the North Pole. In a nutshell, they sell lies.

Well, who in the world, would pay for a service like this?, we asked ourselves. Apparently 200,000 parents have done just that; they lied to their children to keep the Santa conspiracy alive. Oh, and they made over 2 million USD since their launch.

Glow in the dark toilet paper

Some of the short-sighted glass wearing people in Shanghai, might actually not think of this as such a bad idea. I mean, how many times have we fumbled in the dark, looking for wipes to keep our private parts clean? But, selling toilet paper for a living? Apparently it has a huge market and the parent company sold thousands of it already since launch.

Chia Pets

Okay so, when we first saw this, one of us [our Indian co-worker] got really mad. What the hell is this? Why does it look so effing weird?!

Well, it is a Chia sprouts resemble the animal's fur or hair. Moistened Chia seeds are applied to the grooved terra cotta figurine body, which then... sprouts.

Other animal figurines: turtle, pig, puppy, kitten, frog, and hippopotamus. Cartoon characters: Garfield, Scooby-Doo, Looney Tunes, Shrek, The Simpsons, and SpongeBob.

Politicians' figures include Barack Obama and Bob Ross.

Note: these pets will die after a month, so dont get too attached.

LaserMonks

Why buy regular printer ink, when you can have a priest refill your cartridges, and other value-added services like prayer requests and monastery fruitcake and candy?

Flat-D

We are going to be adults and be clinical about this one.

The Flatulence Deodorizer - Disposable is an activated charcoal cloth pad that is worn taped inside the underwear next to the buttocks. The activated carbon cloth pad is disposable so you can throw it away after use. The wearer is virtually unaware of its presence because it is soft, thin and comfortable inside the undergarment. (Pad actually goes inside underwear)

Boyfriend pillow

The next best invention to the vibrator, this pillow takes women empowerment to the next level.

Being single and female has never been easier and now you can enjoy your Better Half, pun intended, in a shirt or topless with nice pecks and a sick pack.

Providing excused absence note writing

Ever asked your eloquent, verbose friend to write texts for you? Maybe to your boss for being late, or for a kickass breakup text with your boyfriend that preserves your ego?

This internet company my excused absence has multiple templates for all possible scenarios that you can think where you find yourself guilty and speechless.

The company charged 25USD per letter and were so successful, they came under fire for encouraging fraudulent behaviour. They seem to be laying low for now, but we are sure they would come back.

Selling professional cuddling

No, this really isnt about sex.

We did not think this business was a serious one at first. Actually, even the local authorities suspected professional cuddling was a cover for prostitution. But the service is just about the cuddles. Nothing more, nothing less. You can basically lay down and watch a movie, the founder says in a news article. Different sites quote different numbers about what the annual turnover for this company is, lets just say they are making way over that we would imagine.

Selling rocks as pets

We have no words for this one. We understand the boyfriend pillow, the cuddling service, even the Chia PetsI mean at least all of these things are a semblance of life.

But paying to have a pet ROCK? And the packaging has holes so that the rock can breathe? Plus, the founder dude [who has passed away, may his soul RIP] made millions.

What the..

We certainly will have a very interesting Business Plan Review Process, if we had a candidate who applied for such a business idea with AnyHelper for the Entrepreneur visa to sell Pet rocks for the China market

Who knows, maybe there is a market for ChongWu Shitou [literally means Rock that is a pet].

Brand name has a nice ring to it :D

Hopefully, you are now inspired, so, we ask you AGAIN:
