In the past year, Singapores richest have gotten even richer according to Forbes latest report (August 2019), the 50 richest people in Singapore have a combined wealth of S$180 billion, up 12% from last year.
Youve probably heard of Chinese restauranteur Zhang Yong who we've introduced in our former article.
He recently displaced quite a few real estate tycoons to emerge as Singapores richest man in 2019.
Since September 2018 when the brand raised US$963 million in its Hong Kong initial public offering (IPO) Haidilaos stocks have more than doubled.
So what exactly did he do to amass such ridiculous wealth?!
Zhang Yongs is an inspiring story of rags to riches:
He was born in Sichuan in 1971. His father was a cook in a factory. His mother was a primary school teacher. He brings the typical founder story: no background, no degree, no money.
