Without a Chinese bank account, what's the best way to top up?
It can be difficult to make purchases in China if you don't have a Chinese bank account. For short-term visa visitors, topping up your account with cash by visiting the nearest service provider location can always be an option.
In addition, you can top up with an international card using Alipay or WeChat. The following example is Alipay:
To bind an international card in Alipay:
1. After launching Alipay, click "Me" at the lower right corner and click "Bank Cards".
2. Click "+" to add a new card.
3. Follow the instructions to add your card info.

To top up with an international card:
1. After launching Alipay, click "Top-up Center".
2. Select the desired amount.
3. Select the desired foreign card and click "Pay now" (A 3% of credit card fee will apply).
4. Enter your card info as required.

Besides top-up, are there other ways to get free data?
If you need more data but don't want to spend extra money, there are actually many ways to get free data. Take China Unicom as an example, by following their official WeChat account and checking in daily you can earn some free data:
1. On their official WeChat account page, click "" (My Unicom).
2. Click "" (daily check-in and get data).
3. Click the orange icon "" (check-in) to finish checking in.

Other popular apps such as DiDi and Eleme also provide the option to receive free data if you complete certain tasks.
Eleme
Users can enjoy free data if signing up for its meal card.
DiDi
Users can "exchange" trips for data.
