These May Be Considered as Statutory Occupational Diseases

The National Health Commission of China recently held a press conference to raise awareness on health risks exposed by certain occupations around the country.

After conducting a nationwide survey, it was found that over 200 million workers are suffering from a variety of occupational hazards, including work stress, cervical spondylosis, calcific periarthritis, back pain, bone hyperplasia and sciatica, among many others.

As of the end of 2018, a total of 975,000 cases had been reported in China, among which 873,000 indicated certain degrees of pneumoconiosis pain, accounting for 90% of the total reported cases.

These occupational hazards are more than often the result of bad forms and certain types of behaviors in the workplace, which may have severe consequences in the long run for those suffering from them according to researchers.

The National Health Commission of China is taking this matter very seriously and is continuously studying the correlation between workplace habits and behaviors, and their consequences on our own health and well-being. Work stress and musculoskeletal diseases are among the most common findings.
